The woman had been arrested after police were called due to concerns for the pair’s safety last September.

A police officer tweeted at the time: “No clothes. No food. No carpets. No duvet. Drugs left lying around the house. Baby taken into police protection and mother arrested for child neglect. Heartbreaking.”

The child was taken into police protection, while the mother was arrested on suspicion of child neglect and possession of a controlled drug.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said this week: “Our investigation has now concluded and there will be no further police action taken in relation to child neglect. The woman arrested received a police caution for possession of a controlled drug.

"Throughout the investigation we have worked closely with partner agencies who continue to offer support and appropriate provision to ensure the wellbeing of the child and family.”
