Police seized a number of dangerous dogs from a house in Argyll Avenue, Intake after a man was attacked.

He said: “We were just walking along minding our own business when we saw a man walking a dog on the other side of the street.

"Then another dog came out of this house, followed by who I presume was its owner and started attacking the dog that was being walked.

"The guy saw us looking and shouted ‘what the f*** are you looking at’ and set the dog on me.

"The next thing I know, I was on the ground and I’d got three dogs on top of me biting and attacking me.”

"I don’t know what type of dogs they were, but they were vicious and snarling and biting me all over. My arms were dripping with blood and I had to go to hospital in the back of an ambulance.

"They kept me there for 14 hours.”

The victim also alleges he was attacked with a metal bar in the same street a few days after the initial attack.

He said: “We were on the way back from the shop at about 11pm on Tuesday.

"This guy came at me with a bar and whacked me round the face with it. I managed to get away and was already on the phone to the police but by the time they got there he had gone.”

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman confirmed officers were called to the street at 8.10pm last Friday.

It said: “Police were called following reports a man had been injured by three dogs on Argyll Avenue in the Intake area of Doncaster.

“It is reported that the victim, a 43-year-old man, saw a dog attacking a dog walker across the street.

“When called by its owner, it is reported the dog has then crossed the road, and along with two other dogs, attacked the victim.

“He was taken to hospital by ambulance after suffering injuries to his arm.”

“The dogs have been seized by officers and enquiries are ongoing.”

Officers seized five dogs under the Dangerous Dogs Act.

One person was arrested on suspicion of obstructing a police officer and remains in police custody, a spokesman said.
