Man suffers face gash in Mexborough assault

A man needed stitches to his face after he was allegedly attacked outside a pub.

The 43-year-old victim left a pub with his daughter and was walking up Mexborough High Street when they were approached by two men near an opticians’ shop.

Police said one of the men punched the victim in the face. He fell to the floor and lost consciousness.

The two men are then reported to have run away up High Street. The man suffered a gash to his face which required stitches.

The suspects are described as both being black or mixed race, and were around 5ft 6ins tall and of medium build. They were both wearing dark clothing.
