Six people have been arrested and a man taken to hospital with a knife wound following a disturbance in the Hexthorpe overnight.

At around 12.50am this morning Wednesday 12 August police were called to reports of a group fighting in Hexthorpe Road.

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with a suspected knife wound that is not believed to be serious.

Six men have been arrested in connection with the disorder and are in custody being questioned by officers.

Enquiries are ongoing.

The incident comes just two days after council bosses introduced a Public Spaces Protection Order in Hexthorpe claiming it was a ‘turning point’ for the village – which has been blighted by racial tensions and escalating anti-social behaviour over the last 18 months.
