Man rushed to hospital after being stabbed in face in Doncaster attack

A man is recovering after being stabbed in the face in an attack in a Doncaster village.

Police were called to Askern yesterday following the attack which took place close to the town's Market Place.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We received a call at 12:28pm on 10 January for reports of a robbery close to Swan Court in Askern.

“It is believed a 34 year-old man was approached by a unknown man with a knife.

The 34 year-old victim suffered wounds to his face.

“He was taken to hospital, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

“Officers arrested a 30 year-old man on suspicion of robbery, he remains in police custody.”

A number of eye witnesses said there was heavy police activity at the scene throughout yesterday, with police vehicles and an ambulance in attendance.
