Man in court on attempted murder charge after Doncaster stabbing

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder, following a stabbing in Doncaster earlier this week.

26-year-old Benedict Zvekare, of St John’s Road, Doncaster, appeared before Doncaster Magistrates’ Court earlier today charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear before Sheffield Crown Court at a later date.

At 2.20pm on Monday, September 28, emergency services were called to Balby Road following reports a man had been injured.

A 26-year-old man was taken to hospital with suspected stab wounds. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Three other men have been arrested in connection with the incident – a 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and two men aged 40 and 19, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

All three have been bailed pending further enquiries.
