Man charged with stealing PPE from Doncaster Royal Infirmary Hospital

A 50-year-old man from Doncaster has been charged with theft after he admitted stealing personal protective equipment and other items from the town’s hospital.

Mark Morris, of Wharf Road, was arrested on Thursday after police received reports he had stolen face-masks, bedding, pens, a toothbrush and tooth paste from Doncaster Royal Infirmary Hospital on Wednesday.

Mr Morris admitted the offence in an interview with officers. He has since been bailed to appear at Doncaster Magistrates Court on 19 May.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “A 50-year-old man has been charged following a reported theft from Doncaster Royal Infirmary earlier this week.

“Mark Morris, of Wharf Road, was arrested on 30 April after a number of items were understood to have been taken from the hospital the day before. The items have since been returned.

“He has since been released on bail and will appear at Doncaster Magistrates Court on 19 May.”
