Man charged over Doncaster axe robbery allegation

A man accused of threatening Doncaster shop staff with an axe has been charged with robbery.

Police say they received reports on Friday from a shop on Bawtry Road, that a man had threatened staff with an axe and stolen cigarettes. A suspect was arrested and interviewed on Saturday.

A police spokesman said: “The Crown Prosecution Service have authorised us to charge him with an offence of robbery.” He was remanded in police custody, due appear before magistrates today.
