Man charged with dangerous driving after high speed police chase on M18 near Doncaster

A wanted man who led police on a high speed chase along the M18 near Rotherham has been charged with dangerous driving among other offences.

The 30-year-old, from Manchester, was driving a VW Transporter when he failed to stop for officers from South Yorkshire’s road policing team on Thursday, April 9.

During the pursuit between Rotherham and Doncaster, police said he put members of the public at risk by driving along the hard shoulder and on the wrong side of the dual carriageway.

He was arrested and has now been charged with dangerous driving, no insurance and no license, and possession of cannabis.

The man was also already wanted on a warrant for failing to appear at Sheffield Magistrates Court for a previous traffic offence from 2019.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear before court at a later date.
