Man attacked with glass bottle in Doncaster town centre

A man has been convicted of a Doncaster town centre glass bottle attack, within hours of the incident occurring.

Darrell Coleman was arrested for assaulting a man with the bottle on June 3, with the incident happening on St Sepulchre Gate.

He was held overnight by police and appeared before Doncaster magistrates the following day.

Coleman, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to a charge of battery at court on June 4 and was issued with a one year long restraining order valid banning him from directly or indirectly contacting the victim. He was also ordered to pay compensation and costs.

The council believes that a renewed and revised PSPO would help to tackle anti-social behaviour which can ‘negatively affect the town centre’.
