A man has been arrested after a police officer was assaulted in the middle of Doncaster town centre in front of shoppers.

A British Transport Police vehicle was flagged down by a member of public at around 4.40pm on Saturday to report an incident near St Sepulchre Gate.
Officers attended and engaged with a man before the man assaulted an officer. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and taken into police custody.
He has since been released until 9 June.
