Man arrested after Doncaster playground drugs incident today

A man has been arrested today after being caught with drugs in a Doncaster children’s playground.

The arrest, at a play area on Vaughan Avenue, Wheatey, came as police carried out high visibility patrols by police community support officers (PCSOs) in Wheatley following complaints of drug use on the estate.

A statement from South Yorkshire Police today said: “Local PSCOs have been conducting high visibility patrols in the lower Wheatley area of Doncaster to reduce the issue of drug use and dealing reported by residents and concerned business owners.

"Today, a male was observed in the playground on Vaughan Ave. Male stopped and searched and subsequently arrested for the possession of a controlled drug.”

They are urging the public to report any sightings of crime on 101 for non emergencies or 999 for emergencies emergency 999, or the Sourh Yorkshire Police website.
