Sheffield Crown Court heard on April 20 how Joe Haigh, aged 33, of no fixed abode, tried to bring the phone into HMP Moorland.Richard Davies, defending, said the circumstances of the alleged offence relate to the defendant arriving from one prison to another on a transfer and having allegedly secreted this item on himself.Mr Davies added that Haigh is offering to plead guilty to a charge of attempting to convey a mobile phone into prison on the basis he admitted the matter at the prison before any searches were carried out.Haigh’s position, according to Mr Davies, is that “he got cold feet at the prison gates”.Judge Rachael Harrison told the court she will request a provisional pre-sentence report from the probation service and she adjourned the case until a possible sentencing hearing on May 22.
