Jewel ‘thieves’ set for court

TWO women have been charged with stealing rare Indian jewellery worth almost £30,000 from a Hatfield shop.

Police believe Maria Tomescu and Maria Iamnadita, 41 and 50, from Birmingham, are part of a callous gang suspected of the burglary in High Street.

The incident, which happened in March, saw shop assistants distracted as other gang members looted the living quarters. The pair are set to appear at Derby Crown Court today.
