‘Huge police presence’ in Doncaster suburb after overnight incident

A heavy police presence remained in place overnight in a Doncaster suburb following an incident which reportedly saw one person attacked and several cars damaged.

There are reports of a police presence this morning on Cantley Lane, Cantley as well as Almond Road amid claims a person was “badly hurt” after being attacked by multiple people on Thursday evening (20 August). Several cars were also reportedly damaged on Almond Road. A video taken on Cantley Lane shows police cordons in place on adjacent roads.

South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue confirmed a Mitsubishi Shogun was deliberately set on fire at 11:20pm on nearby Broom Hill Drive, Cantley, Doncaster. One fire crew from Doncaster station attended the incident. They left the scene at 11:50pm. No injuries were reported.

It is not known if the incidents are linked.
