A PAIR of hammer and knife wielding robbers attacked a man outside his Doncaster home in an unprovoked early hours attack.
The victim was loading his van up for work when he was pounced upon by one of the mask wearing thugs who hit him over the head with a hammer before demanding money and rifling through his pockets.
His accomplice then slashed the 39-year-old across the back of his hand.
Both raiders then fled the scene empty handed.
Police have launched a manhunt to trace those who carried out the bungled robbery in Chestnut Avenue, Carcroft.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “The 39-year-old sustained bruising and swelling to his head and two, 4cm lacerations to the back of his left hand which required stitches.”
The first attacker was white, in his late 30s, between 5ft 7ins and 5ft 9ins tall and of an average build. He had a scarf covering the lower part of his face and he was wearing a dark coloured hooded top and jeans.
The second suspect was slim and was wearing a dark coloured hooded top, tracksuit bottoms, and a mask that covered his face.
Both men fled the scene towards Victor Street following the attack which happened at about 5.30am on Saturday, June 16.
