A firearms amnesty launched in South Yorkshire has led to a variety of guns and ammunition being handed in - from shotguns to bullets.

The amnesty, aimed at removing illegal guns from the streets and preventing firearms from falling into the wrong hands, has resulted in 11 shotguns, 190 shotgun cartridges, two air rifles, 100 rifle rounds, a 9mm fire rifle, three air pistols, a 50 calibre round, a handgun and a starting pistol being surrendered.

Detective Chief Inspector Zaf Ali said: “I want the public to take advantage and surrender any gun without fear of prosecution for possession.”
