Goldthorpe OAP attacked as he walks home from pub

A pensioner was seriously hurt when he was set upon from behind by a thug as he walked home from the pub.

Detectives have launched a hunt to trace the culprit who attacked the 73-year-old in Goldthorpe.

The victim was in Market Street when the assault took place. He fell to the ground and suffered a serious neck injury. Nothing was stolen, police said.

The offender is described as a white man, in his 20s, with a slim face. He was wearing a three-quarter length khaki coloured army style coat.

The assault happened at around 11pm on Thursday, June 19, but police have only just released details.
