Officers today warned that they would be taking action to deal with the problem, involving a group of up to 60 youths, with an operation tomorrow involving themselves and other agencies.

A spokesman said: “We’ve experienced large numbers of teenagers travelling into Doncaster town centre in groups of up to 60. This group then migrates towards Herten Way, Asda and the Dome.

"Some members of this group have been responsible for causing damage and assaulting people, which is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.

“We are still in a pandemic and the rules are clear about essential travel and large gatherings.

“We are planning a multi-agency operation this weekend to engage with anyone travelling into the town centre or Herten Way in large groups to ensure that our communities feel supported by South Yorkshire Police and our partners.”
