Further man, aged 20, charged with murder of Lewis Williams in Mexborough

A 20-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Lewis Williams in Mexborough.

Ryan Nisbet of Springwood Road, Barnsley, will appear before Doncaster Magistrates Court on Monday

The charge comes following the arrests of six other men and two teenage boys as part of a police investigation.

The two teenage boys – from Doncaster – have also been charged with murder as well as possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and criminal damage.

Lewis, 20 Lewis died on 11 January from a shotgun wound suffered in Wath Road in the town.

Mr Williams was gunned down close to the Farmfoods store on Wath Road at around 5pm on Monday afternoon.

A post-mortem examination concluded that he died as a result of a shotgun wound to his neck and face.

Yesterday (Friday) a 20-year old man from Barnsley was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

A 49-year-old man also arrested yesterday on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession of ammunition has been bailed pending further enquiries.

A 32-year-old man from Doncaster and a 22-year-old man from Rotherham remain on police bail while enquiries continue.

Two other men, both aged 20, also remain on bail as part of the investigation.

The two teens – a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons - are both charged with Lewis’s murder.

They are both remanded into police custody and will appear before Sheffield Crown Court on 1 February 2021.
