Foul-mouthed South Yorkshire woman fined after racist outburst

A booze-fuelled woman has been fined after hurling a volley of racist abuse at her sister.

Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on February 13 how Jessica Buttle, 40, of Farquhar Road, Maltby, near Rotherham, had been arrested in Rotherham after her sister had called police with concerns.

Mark Hughes, prosecuting, said Buttle was not co-operating and as police tried to handcuff her she refused to get off the floor and had to be carried to a police vehicle.

Mr Hughes added Buttle shouted a racist comment referring to her sister’s boyfriend and repeated a similar abusive racist comment.

Buttle pleaded guilty to using racially aggravated threatening behaviour and to resisting a police officer after the incident on January 16.

Matthew Shepherd, defending, said Buttle who has mental health difficulties had been drinking and there has been friction with her sister.

Buttle was fined £120 and must pay £85 costs and a £32 victim sucharge.
