The tensions were reported after an assault on Wharncliffe Street two weeks ago, currently under investigation.

We arranged additional resources, including the serious violent crime team, for high visibility evening patrols between March 5 and March 7, leading to 21 people being stopped and searched, with three arrested for possessing drugs and/or knives.

On March 4, we worked with partner agencies in a traffic operation, leading to 11 cars being seized for no insurance.

Elsewhere, over the month we seized over 1,200 cannabis plants in raids on a variety of addresses. That is over £500,000 worth of drugs, plus £1,000 cash seized.

They included 400 plants at a commercial property on Scot Lane, town centre, on March 3, where a man was charged with cannabis cultivation. We also raided addresses at May Avenue, Woodfield Road, Gladstone Avenue, Furnival Road, Wentworth Road, Carr House Road, Palmer Avenue and Goodison Boulevard.

On March 11, we raided a property on Ferrers Road, Wheatley, where some 200 plants were recovered. A man was arrested on suspicion of cultivation and abstracting electricity. We then detained a man during a separate incident at Allerton Street, near the market, seizing spice, 20 wraps of drugs, £500 cash and a knuckle duster. He was wanted on a recall to prison.

In the town centre, three men were arrested and charged over the past month for burgling businesses.

We were also involved in the arrest of three men after a short pursuit in Doncaster, were a van stolen in Lincolnshire was stopped and the occupants arrested for burglary and vehicle theft. Two were charged with offences. We also arrested two men in Armthorpe for burglary following an incident at Finningley on March 4.

A drugs dog operation on March 11 in the town centre led to six stop-searches after positive indications from the drugs dog. One woman was found in possession of a cocaine, while another two men had cannabis.
