The first happened when we supported the Immigration Service in a search for a wanted man on Crimpsall Road, Hexthorpe. The man they were looking for was not there, but searching the address, they found two rooms containing 90 cannabis plants. The man who was in the house was arrested for the production of cannabis.

And just before Christmas, we had a call reporting a suspected burglary at Kings Road, near Nether Hall Road. When our officers arrived, they found 200 mature cannabis plants being grown inside with lights and watering systems. No one has been arrested yet.

We have recently seen an emerging trend – the theft of catalytic converters from cars and vans. Converters have been stolen while cars have been parked in local car parks during the day. It is likely the thieves have been seen committing the offence but passers-by have probably assumed that they are repairing or recovering a broken down vehicle. Please be vigilant and report any incidents in car parks where it may appear a car is being repaired or recovered.

We have recently seen success tackling burglaries, with a number of arrests including a man for a house burglary on Firbeck Road, Bennetthorpe. He was charged and remanded. Another two were arrested for burglaries at Lonsdale Avenue, Intake and a pharmacy in Hexthorpe – one was bailed with conditions and the other eventually released without charge.

And another man was arrested for the burglary of a business on Scot Lane and later remanded.

On December 3, officers identified a suspicious vehicle in Balby and upon investigating further, found three men in nearby premises where a stolen laptop was recognised by one of the officers. The vehicle was on false plates and reported stolen from a residential burglary. All three were detained and released under investigation.

Finally, I have also set up some engagement events via Facebook and the first one will take place between 5.30 and 6.30pm on Thursday January 23. It is an ideal opportunity to raise any questions or issues with me.
