Elderly Edenthorpe woman robbed by distraction burglars

A 73-year-old woman has allegedly been targeted by distraction burglars in Edenthorpe.

The woman was with her husband at home in The Crescent when an unknown man knocked on the door.

It is believed that the man asked to look in the couples’ back garden, explaining he had been building a patio at a neighbouring property.

The couple and the man stood talking in their garden for around 15 minutes. When the man left and the couple re-entered their home, they discovered that the property had been searched and items stolen. The person who came to the door is described as being a white man, around 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build. He is believed to have looked between 30 and 40-years-old, and had a slight Irish accent.

He was reportedly wearing a navy blue jumper and navy blue trousers with brown boots.

Police are appealing for information on the incident, which is believed to have taken place at around 2.30pm on Thursday, October 16.
