Eerie pictures show how Doncaster has become as a ghost town during lockdown

Doncaster residents are playing their part in combating Covid-19, says South Yorkshire Police as they released pictures showing an empty town centre.

The usually busy Doncaster town centre was only visited by people out for essential items today, Saturday, April 18, a spokesman from SYP’s Doncaster Central Neighbourhood Police said.

The spokesman said: “In what is usually a very busy day with shoppers, we were pleased to see that only a small number of people were out shopping for essential items.

“Everyone who we engaged with was adhering to social distancing. Thank you to all of the residents of Doncaster.

“You are all clearly playing your part in combating Covid-19.”

Commenting on the Neighbourhood Police’s Facebook page a Mary Amess, said: “Much better. Well done to all of those out shopping.”

Another person, Lisa Bolt, added: “Fantastic, thank you to everyone doing their bit.”
