Two men have appeared in court in connection with the death of a 22-year-old inmate at Lindholme Prison near Doncaster.

Julian Maylor, aged 23, appeared before Doncaster Magistrates’ Court charged with the murder of Michael Hennessy, who died from stab wounds.

Reiss Comrie, 24, is charged with common assault and three counts of giving a prohibited item known as ‘a list A article’ to a prisoner. Both were remanded into custody.

Maylor will appear before Sheffield Crown Court today, and Comrie will appear before the same court on March 12.

South Yorkshire Police officers were contacted by prison officials on December 21 last year, informing them of the death of Michael Hennessy, who was originally from Nottingham.
