Doncaster woman 'unleashed brutal unprovoked attack on her friend'

A thug has been spared from time behind bars after she unleashed a brutal unprovoked attack on her friend.

Sheffield Crown Court hard on October 15 how Keeley Quinn, aged 39, of Axholme Green, Thorne, Doncaster, had been drinking with her friend and neighbour before she punched and kicked her so badly she was left covered in blood.

Zaiban Alam, prosecuting, said: “She just remembers being on the floor and being covered in blood and seeing blood splattered on her hall, walls and door.”

Ms Alam said they had been drinking but the complainant returned home but when she went outside smoking she heard Quinn shouting before she was attacked.

Quinn insulted the complainant before kicking and punching her in the face and as the complainant lay in her hallway she was kicked again during a relentless attack, according to Ms Alam.

Quinn pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm after the attack in January.

Ms Alam said: “There is no explanation as to what the motivation was and there was no history of animosity between these two ladies and they were firm friends.”

Katy Rafter, defending, said Quinn has mental health difficulties and is bi-polar with a personality disorder and she has struggled after the end of a long-term relationship.

Ms Rafter said Quinn had stopped taking her medication which the defendant says she never should have done but she is now getting support and is expectng a baby.

Judge Sarah Wright sentenced Quinn to six months of custody suspended for 12 months with a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement.
