There are good reasons for this – NHS data shows the area around Old Road and Sheffield Road is the current coronavirus hot spot in Doncaster West.

But this is also where we are seeing the most calls at present, whether over shops opening or people visiting homes they should not be visiting.

Our patrols are intelligence led in this way – but it is a changing picture. It may be Conisbrough at present, but before that we had been looking at Adwick and Carcroft. By next week it could have changed again.

Conisbrough is also currently seeing reassurance patrols, both from the district and the wider force, after shootings earlier in the month.

There were a series of firearms discharges between November 7 and November 9, all believed to be targeted attacks, possibly competing organised crime groups.

Initially, a gun was fired at a property on Park Road on November 7.

Then on November 9, a 19-year-old man was injured when a gun was fired on Daylands Avenue. Later that evening, two men, aged 47 and 22, were injured when a gun was discharged on March Vale Rise. In each case, the injuries were not life threatening.

Detectives are still investigating and reassurance patrols continue. Four people have been arrested and are on bail.

Conisbrough also saw cannabis cultivation set-ups discovered. A man was arrested when 50 plants were found on Silverwood View on November 6. Another arrest was made when 100 plants were discovered on Sheffield Road on November 11.

Mexborough has also seen properties raided for drugs.

A man was arrested after a raid on Flowitt Street on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs. Class A drugs and a cannabis cultivation set up were found on Northgate on November 18. A man has been interviewed and the investigation continues.

Also, 28 cannabis plants were found at Cromwell Road on October 28; and two men were arrested at the scene after a raid uncovered 23 plants at Britain Street on November 11.

Cannabis plants were also found in a raid on Conyers Road, Bentley on November 19. A suspect has been identified.
