Phillip Anthony Hartley was released last Friday after serving part of a three month jail sentence following his conviction for assaulting a police officer at York railway station in August.

But Hartley, 37, who also uses the name Phillip L’Estrange, has been returned to jail after being arrested at his home in Christ Church Road this morning following a breach of his probation conditions.

Hartley was jailed at York Magistates Court in November and was sentenced to three months in jail following the incident on August 3.

A warrant had been issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in court with magistrates finding him guilty in his absence.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman confirmed that a 37-year-old man had been arrested at an address in Christ Church Road earlier today.
