A 23-year-old Doncaster man has been jailed for indecent images offences, as well as being placed on the Sex Offenders Register for a decade.
Matthew Sanderson, of Radburn Road, Doncaster, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday 17 November) to receive his sentence after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing to making nearly 4,000 indecent images of children and distributing over 600 indecent images of children.
He received a 16-month jail term for the distribution offences and an eight-month jail sentence for making images, to run concurrently.
Detective Constable David Whitehouse investigating said: “I hope this case sends out a warning message to offenders that making, possessing and distributing indecent images of children will not be tolerated.
“Sanderson is now behind bars for his sick crimes and control measures are in place to limit his contact with young people in future.”
In November 2013, officers from South Yorkshire Police executed a warrant at Sanderson’s home after suspecting he was involved in making and distributing indecent images.
His laptop was seized and forensically examined, revealing 3,984 indecent images on his hard drive.
The specialist examination of his computer also revealed he had shared over 600 images online.
At the hearing yesterday, Sanderson was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) was granted.
