A Doncaster man has been jailed for seven and a half years for sexually assaulting a teenage girl.

Darren Stevenson, aged 41, of Mayfield Crescent, Rossington, pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual activity with a child.

Sheffield Crown Court heard that between December 2012 and May 2013, Stevenson forced a 15-year-old girl to have sex with him on a number of occasion - warning her not to tell anyone what had happened.

The victim disclosed her ordeal in June 2013 and police began their investigation.

Detective Constable Lee Szedzielarz said: “Stevenson has accepted responsibility for his vile actions, which are completely inexcusable.

“He threatened a vulnerable teenage girl, forcing himself on her for his own sexual gratification.

“She has shown exceptional strength by disclosing her abuse to police and I commend her for this bravery.

“We want to empower more victims of sexual abuse to come forward and report this horrific crime so we can bring offenders to justice.”
