Doncaster drugs farmer spared immediate prison term

A South Yorkshire man who grew so much cannabis it could have fetched nearly £19,000 if sold has been spared an immediate prison sentence, Sheffield Crown Court has heard.

Police officers executed a drugs warrant at Michal Wesolowski's home in Edlington, on May 5, last year, said prosecutor Amy Earnshaw, on Friday.

He told them to look in the garage, where they found 18 plants which were capable of producing 1.8 kgs of skunk, worth an estimated £18,900.

The electricity had also been bypassed and he told officers it was for his personal use.

Ed Moss, mitigating, said Wesolowski, who is self-employed with two employees, was of previous good character.

Wesolowski, 31, of Queen's Park, Edlington, Doncaster, pleaded guilty at the magistrates court.

Judge David Dixon sentenced him to six months, suspended for 18 months, with a three month curfew, from 8pm to 6am.

Wesolowski is required to provide financial information by March in case a Proceeds of Crime Order has to be made.
