A burglar has been jailed for over three years after being caught red-handed, and later identified, by the neighbours he had targeted.

After pleading guilty, Steven Hudson, aged 59, formerly of Windsor Road, Doncaster, was sentenced to three years and four months behind bars after breaking in and stealing from the couple in the early hours of June 28, 2019.At 4.50am, Hudson gained access to the property by breaking the lock on a front window. He and his accomplice, an unknown woman, were disturbed after the couple overheard them and came downstairs.

One of the victims confronted Hudson, who head-butted him before leaving with a TV and other electrical items.DC Jane Keightley said: “Both offenders were captured on the couple’s home CCTV. Three months later the couple witnessed Hudson walking nearby, along Windsor Road.“After reporting the sightings to us, we were able to apprehend Hudson at his home address. He was later formally identified by the couple as the perpetrator.”
