Mr Robotham was rendered unconscious by the blow, and fell heavily to the floor, banging his head on the ground and fracturing his skull.

He died of “devastating brain injuries” at Sheffield’s Royal Hallamshire Hospital the following day.

Rose was arrested the day after the killing when he was identified on CCTV footage of the incident and initially claimed no knowledge of the incident but later admitted the manslaughter of Mr Robotham.

But he denies murder.
