CCTV released in Doncaster fraud case probe

Police have released CCTV footage in a bid to trace two men in connection with a case of fraud in Doncaster.

South Yorkshire Police said two men, who are believed to be from Eastern Europe, entered a jewellery store in Mexborough high street at 11am on October 3.

The pair agreed a price of £7,000 for the sale of a genuine gold necklace.

However, once the men had left the store, it was discovered that a switch had occurred and a different necklace had been handed over.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers would like to trace the two men in the footage and question them in connection with the incident.

“One is described as being around 6ft tall and the other around 5ft 6in.”

Anyone with information which could help officers with their enquiries into the offence is urged to call 101, quoting incident number 330 of October 3.
