Boozed-up Doncaster reveller must do unpaid work after abusing his partner

Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on January 9 how Matthew Davock, 32, of Watch House Lane, Doncaster, unleashed a volley of repeated abuse at his partner as they travelled to Sheffield railway station by train.

Matthew Duffy, prosecuting, said: “The two had been out in Manchester city centre on June 29 and both had consumed alcohol.”

Mr Duffy added the couple caught a train at Manchester and the defendant became aggressive and asked his partner if she enjoyed men staring at her and as she went to the toilet she spoke to another man and Davock walked over swearing and dragged her back.

Davock further abused his partner when they were approached by a train conductor, according to Mr Duffy, and two other females said the defendant had spoken to them in an aggressive manner and Davock had been seen punching a seat.

Mr Duffy added that Davock insulted his partner during the journey and when she disembarked at Sheffield station she punched him to get him away at which point train guards intervened.

Davock, who pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour, told the court he had behaved the way he did because of alcohol and he admitted he had issues with drink.

Magistrates sentenced Davock to a 12-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work and an Alcohol Treatment Requirement.

He must pay a £90 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
