Arrest after car leaves road near Doncaster in drink-related crash last night

This was the scene on a road near Doncaster last night after a car left the carriageway after the driver had too much to drink.

South Yorkshire Police Operational Support posted the pictures on social media in the early hours of Saturday, April 18 after it had left the road at Wath, near Mexborough.

A recovery truck had to be called to pick up the crashed car and remove it from the scene.

A police spokesman said: “On a serious note, the driver of this vehicle was arrested after providing an alcohol reading of almost 4 times the legal limit on Manvers Way, Wath.“He will be staying with us for breakfast before being charged and sent to court, then a hefty bill for the recovery and repairs to the damaged signs.”

Operation support officers are continuing to police the roads throughout the current lockdown.
