Antisocial drivers and bikers are driving at speed along Doncaster motorway link road building site

We are seeing an ongoing problem with crime and antisocial behaviour around the building works going on for the construction of the Hatfield link road, writes Insp Alison Carr.

There are workers on the site, creating the road that will connect Hatfield to the M18 – but we are seeing people illegally taking cars and motorcycles onto the works site.

They have found ways to get into the site, and are driving through at dangerous speeds when people are working. These are people who clearly don’t care about their cars as getting there must damage the underside of their vehicles.

We are keeping an eye on this and will take action.

A raid on a house in Stainforth was among the latest of a series of actions over drugs in the east of Doncaster recently.

We carried out a warrant at a house on Stoney Close, Stainforth, with our colleagues at the force’s tasking team using a saw to cut the door in half to get inside.

The property was unoccupied – but there was a cannabis set up which saw over 20 plants being grown inside the property.

Investigations are ongoing since the raid, which was carried out on Tuesday July 14.

Three days before that, in a separate case, officers had searched a vehicle and made an arrest for possession of cannabis. More was then found at his home, leading to an arrest for possession with intent to supply.

Then we made another arrest on Monday July 20, after we had received a call from a concerned member of the public, who was worried that a man in a car on the road looked unwell.

When officers went out to check on him at Doncaster Road, Edenthorpe, they found packets of white power in the car, suspected drugs. They then searched his home address. The investigation is ongoing.

Finally, last month I warned about thieves stealing catalytic converters from cars. Since then, we have arrested a suspect in Dunscroft. We are appealing to people to give us information on this ongoing issue.
