Council earns top award for job scheme

Barnsley Council has been successful in gaining a top award for helping young people in care gain employment.

The authority was recognised with a Quality Mark Award from Care2Work, a national project which aims to improve employability outcomes for young people leaving care. The award recognised Barnsley for its commitment to helping care leavers into the world of work.

Tim Cheetham, Cabinet Spokesperson, Children Young People and Families, said: “This award recognises the hard work council officers have been doing as corporate parents to assist our young care leavers in finding suitable employment.”
