Council cleans up at awards night

North Lincolnshire Council has scooped an award for a Spring clean up campaign.

Keep Britain Tidy, said: “North Lincolnshire Council won the Great British Spring Clean Award for supporting over 300 Litter Heroes to clean up for the campaign, and to sustain the initiative in the long term.”

Councillor Richard Hannigan, cabinet member for Safer, Greener and Cleaner Places, said: “This is fantastic news. Well done to all involved in making the last year’s Great British Spring Clean campaign the huge success it was.

“Winning the award wouldn’t have been possible without the support from local communities so I’d like to say a big ‘thank you’ to all the volunteers who took part in the big clean up last year.

“We are once again taking part in The Great British Spring Clean this year and are encouraging even more people to step forward and take part.”

The Great British Spring Clean Award commends activity that took place between March 3 and 5 last year and recognises promotion, engagement and delivery of The Great British Spring Clean campaign.

Last year’s Great British Spring Clean saw 300 volunteers rally together to collect over 700 bags of rubbish over the clean-up weekend and throughout March 2017.
