Doncaster Council planners have turned down a request to site a new zebra crossing in Conisbrough.

A meeting of Conisbrough Partners and Community Together (PACT) at the Ivanhoe Centre, Conisbrough on Wednesday, heard that the proposed crossing at the bottom of Crookhill Road had been rejected.

Consibrough and Denaby councillor Christine Mills had put forward the request for the crossing after a member of the public pointed out the difficulty in crossing the road during busy times when motorists refused to give way to pedestrians.

Safer Communities officer Jonathon Exley told the meeting that the crossing had been refused because the road was a 40mph zone and close to a junction.
