Performers from across the borough are gearing up to fight it out to take the crown in the Battle of Doncaster talent show.

The talent show is being supported by Balby West TARA, Doncaster Council and St. Leger Homes (Doncaster) and will be held at CAST on Saturday, March 22 at 6pm.

For one night only, CAST will host an evening of local live singers, dancers and live bands who will showcase their talents.

Included in this year’s show are performers from Hayley Patrick’s School of Theatre and Dance in Balby, and last year’s winner, Shannon Ryback.

Other acts include a comedian, a beat boxer and many more surprises, all competing to encourage community spirit in the area.

Linda Hall, of The Balby West Tenants and Residents Association and organiser of the event, said: “I’m really excited about The Battle of Doncaster – the event is designed to bring the community together and have a bit of fun during the current difficult economic times.

“This event will bring some light hearted entertainment and is an opportunity to come together as a community, to celebrate what Doncaster has to offer and to show that we care about making our town a better and brighter place.

“We have so much talent in our society; young, adult or pensioner, age holds no ground where talent is concerned.

The aim of The Battle of Doncaster is to bring back the community spirit that seems to have been lost in these hard times.”

Balby West TARA is working with St. Leger Homes, who have sponsored prizes for the event, and Doncaster Council, who have supported the event by providing the main auditorium at new theatre CAST.

Tickets are available now from CAST, local libraries and by post from Balby West Tara, Maureen Edgar Centre, Sandycroft Crescent, Balby, DN4 0TY. Adults £3, Concession £1.50.
