Gaynor Spencer, aged 56, from Rossington decided enough was enough with the litter around her village and set up the Keeping Rossington Tidy group.

She saw other litter picking groups in the town making a difference such as The Green Team and wanted to clean up her home as well.

“I saw the state of the village and wanted to do something about it,” Gaynor said.

“It’s a massive problem and its my mission to see Rossington tidy again.”

The group was set up in March 2019 and Gaynor has so far held around 10 litter picks in the area.

On the litter picks they collect bags filled with plastic bottles and cans which are thrown onto the streets and parks of Rossington.

“The response is brilliant we have had hundreds of responses on social media – there have been so many positive responses,” she continued.

One of the improvements she would like to see in Rossington is the addition of posters on bins in the village parks, in the hopes the bright colours will inspire people to use them apposed to littering.

Gaynor said: “I just want to see the village as it was when I was a child when there was no litter.

“I was born here and I just want to see it looking nice again.”
