Television comic Jo Brand will but her best foot forward into Doncaster this weekend as she takes on a gruelling 150-mile walk in aid of Sport Relief.
The comedian is set to walk from Hull to Liverpool and will be passing through Doncaster on Saturday and Sunday as part of her cross country trek. She will also visit Thorne, Harlington and dozens of other local locations during her challenge.
Brand joins a distinguished list of celebrities who have undertaken physical challenges for Sport Relief, following in the footsteps of Davina McCall and fellow comedians John Bishop and Eddie Izzard. Jo’s inspirational journey will be filmed for a special BBC One programme that will air during Sport Relief week in March. She will also be regularly reporting on BBC Radio One.
While Jo’s full route through the borough will not be publically announced, it has been confirmed that she will pass by several local landmarks including Doncaster Racecourse and the newly refurbished Mansion House in the town centre.
Cabinet Member for the Voluntary and Community Sector, Cllr Chris McGuinness, said: “It will be great to see Jo Brand coming through Doncaster as part of her incredible Sport Relief journey. I hope that having such a well-known celebrity visiting our borough will help to raise the profile of the Sport Relief charity amongst local people, and encourage even more of us to get outside for walks and exercise ourselves.”
