Stand-up Chris Ramsey made global headlines in 2014 when he was able to get a meatball pizza delivered to him at Doncaster station on a train between London King's Cross and Newcastle.

And this afternoon he was celebrating once more after managing to get a curry delivered to his carriage as he headed towards Doncaster.

Ramsey, 29, wanted to see if he could repeat the success of his earlier stunt and appealed for help from his 380,000 Twitter followers this morning, tweeting: "Getting on a train at 11am. Almost lunch time. Not in the mood for pizza today... Any ideas?"

When Twitter user Will Chich tweeted him back with the suggestion "a curry! A full curry. Poppadoms and chutneys. The lot," Ramsey replied: "THIS GUY KNOWS WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT!" and accepted the challenge.

However, he was soon filled with doubts, sending out a later tweet which read: "Ah man... Everyone on the train is going to hate me if I get a curry delivered to it. Don't know if I can put them through it."

But the comedian and fellow performer, Ellie Taylor, who was travelling aboard the Virgin Express with Ramsey decided to place the order - and was delighted when a curry house in Newark took him up on the offer as the hashtag #CurryOnATrain began trending on social media.

He tweeted a series of pictures taking delivery of the food and the feast laid out on a table as the train headed towards Doncaster - but told his Twitter followers how he had been forced to eat it with a "f****** cup and spoon!"

He had even ordered a back up curry from an unnamed Doncaster takeaway - and was getting ready to dish out the extra dish to fellow commuters - but the plan backfired when he failed to take delivery as the train pulled into the station.

He tweeted: "Ah! Doncaster curry man was at the wrong end of the platform! Train doors closed and we had to just watch him and wave #CurryOnATrain"

The comic – who has starred in Celebrity Juice and BBC2 sitcom Hebburn - likened his previous pizza hunting exploits to the Mission: Impossible movies and action hero Jack Bauer in 24.
