Starring Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, the film tells the often chilling story of a former child star who torments her paraplegic sister in their decaying Hollywood mansion.

At the screening there will also be a creepy display of porcelain dolls brought in by the public and activities around the drama/thriller genre of films.

The Cosy Cinema, brought to Mexborough by arts project Right Up Our Street, is run by a core group consisting of John Beal, Andy Pickering and Paul Dyson.

Ian Parks, from Right Up Our Street, said: “We are experimenting with different types of films to see what people in Mexborough are really interested in.

“It is great to be following up our showing of the iconic South Yorkshire film Brassed Off with a thriller which was nominated for Academy awards.

“As always with the Cosy Cinema, there will be so much more than just the film going on during
the evening and we look forward to welcoming people to the venue.”

The cinema’s organising group would welcome new members who have an interest in film and in making sure that the local community in Mexborough have access to a cinema.

Tickets to see the film cost £3.
