Chris Ward, Head of Retail at the Hospice, said: 'The opening of our Doncaster shop was a huge success. We're delighted to announce we had a magnificent first day of trading, with over £1500 taken.

'The people of Doncaster were very supportive, and we are hopeful that we will see many of them back donating items to the shop or volunteering their time to help.

'In turn, I hope we can provide a vibrant and valuable addition to the Collonades and some bargains for our customers.'

The hospice is appealing for volunteers to help run the Doncaster shop . For more information visit www.pwh.org.uk
