A CHARITY concert to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Danensian Choir has raised £2,227 for the Minster Restoration Fund.
A total of 75 choir singers, directors and musicians past and present, reunited at a concert also celebrating the end of this year’s St Leger festival in Doncaster Minster.
The Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire and civic and elected mayors were all in attendance of the concert which attracted an audience of 220.
An array of classics were performed as well as the anthem “Great is the Lord” was specially composed for the occasion by former musical director and now president of the choir, Vernon Hoyle.
The song was well received by the audience on its debut public performance.
