Over 350 schoolchildren from across the borough will graduate from university this year - with a special guest to attend the ceremony.

The Doncaster Children’s University events will be held over four days at the college’s Hub campus at the end of this month and the beginning of July.

The children have achieved a combined total of over 18,000 extra hours of learning at clubs and camps at Doncaster College, schools and other learning places throughout the region.

Gervase Phinn, the chancellor of Doncaster Children’s University, has been invited to speak to children and parents about the importance of learning outside the classroom and the funny side of education.

Also in attendance will be college principal and chief executive George Trow and Hilary Robinson, a children’s author and radio producer.

Doncaster has the only Children’s University based in a Further Education college.

It offers opportunities to young people aged between seven and 14 through their schools’ involvement with the scheme.

Over 20 schools in the Doncaster area have joined Children’s University.
