Charity launches appeal for cash for teddy bears for grieving South Yorkshire parents

Aching Arms was set up in 2010 and runs a teddy bear donation programme at 38 hospitals across the UK - including Jessops Maternity and Neonatal Wing and the Early Pregnancy Unit at The Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

It posts bears to parents in memory of their children and as a comforter.

Each bear comes with a label containing the name of the baby it is dedicated in memory of, as well as directing grieving parents to the charity’s website for links to access further support.

Leanne Turner, Aching Arms co-ordinator, said: “This is the first year of what we hope will be an annual fundraising event for Aching Arms.

“We are asking people to hold a teddy bear’s tea party at their home, their workplace or in their community.

“All the money raised from the tea parties will go towards ensuring that we can continue to bring comfort to bereaved parents.”
